The Food Production Management programme curriculum provides knowledge and skills for students aiming at managing the different levels of the agri-food chains. Students learn the innovative principles and techniques of agriculture, from the fields to the table, to produce safe, sustainable and high quality food. Focus will be on the supply chains of dairy, cured meats, viticulture, cereals and horticultural produce. In particular, high quality “Made in Italy” products value chains are used as study cases. The competences acquired on the degree can be applied to: the production, quality and sanitation in ‘made in Italy” husbandry; the transformation and conservation techniques of plant and animal products; food safety and legislation; the impact on environmental sustainability; aspects relating to the economic valorisation of agri-food products, with particular emphasis on those of Italian tradition and to the management of the enterprises. It is the first degree programme of this kind in Italy entirely focused on agri-food sustainability and its economic and environmental components.

  • 1. University Halls of Residence: €200 to €500 per month
  • 2. Shared Apartments: €250 to €600 per month
  • 3. Private Apartments: €500 to €1000 per month or more
  • 4. Homestays (Living with a Family): €300 to €600 per month

It's important to research accommodation options thoroughly and consider factors such as location, proximity to your university, transportation links, and overall quality of living. Some Universities may offer assistance or guidance in finding accommodation for international students

Living Expenses

Living expenses in Italy may include the following:

  • 1. Other Expenses: In addition to rent, you'll also need to budget for other living expenses such as food, transportation, study materials, health insurance, and leisure activities. These can vary depending on your lifestyle and habits but typically add several hundred euros to your monthly budget.

  • 2. Utilities: Don't forget to budget for utilities such as electricity, water, gas, internet, and possibly garbage collection. These costs can add an extra €50 to €150 per month, depending on usage and location

Italy provides two types of scholarships to international students:

  • 1. Merit-based, &
  • 2. Need-based

The primary objective of these scholarships is to assist academically bright students who require financial assistance for their higher education. These scholarships are also a way to promote the country’s cultural and educational sectors globally.

International students who are awarded with the Italian government scholarships are exempted from tuition or enrolment fees. In addition, you can also get a monthly stipend of Euros 900 approximately to cover your accommodation and food expenses and health and medical insurance.

The payment will be transferred after every three, six, or nine months, depending on your degree.

To study in Italy you will need a visa and the process to apply for the same differs from country to country. Below is a general process that is more relevant to Indian students.

  • 1. You need to apply for a visa through an Italian embassy closest to your residency.
  • 2. Start your visa application as early as possible as it may take up to 3 months for your visa to be granted.
  • 3. Your passport must not be more than 10 years old and must be valid for at least 3 months more than the duration of the visa applying for.
  • 4. Once all your documents are ready you can ‘book an appointment’ at a visa application centre and visit the centre on the date of appointment to submit your documents and get your biometrics done.
  • 5. You also need to pay a visa fee which can be done at the centre itself.
  • 6. Once a decision has been made on your application, you can either collect your passport from the visa application centre or get it couriered to you.
